Sackers win Prestigious Kings Award

We are proud to announce that we have won the internationally prestigious Kings Award for Enterprise, for International Trade. One of five in the whole of Suffolk to achieve this royal accolade.

Previously known as the Queens Award for Enterprise, the application was submitted in September 2022 and after 7 months of submission, we were notified that we had been successful at the end of March.

The scheme was established as The Queen’s Award to Industry in 1965, and awards are given for outstanding achievement by UK businesses in the categories of innovation, international trade, sustainable development and promoting opportunity through social mobility. King Charles has continued this tradition as the Kings Award.

Minister for Enterprise Kevin Hollinrake said: “It is wonderful that His Majesty The King will give his name to these prestigious awards. Her Late Majesty left an enduring legacy of support for outstanding entrepreneurs and volunteers and the continuation of these awards will make sure they recognise hardworking individuals up and down the country long into the future”.

Only 7,000 businesses have won this award since 1966, averaging 122 UK businesses a year.

The award is to acknowledge ‘outstanding short-term growth of international trade’.  Despite the challenging few years with Covid, port strikes, red diesel tax costs, driver shortages and inflation, the business has successfully achieved substantial growth over the three years.  The confirmation email stated “the last few years have been a challenging time for businesses and this achievement is testament to the resilience you and your staff have shown throughout these unprecedented times”.

CEO, David Dodds said “we are over the moon with this recognition. We have faced some incredibly challenging times over the last few years, so to be able to achieve growth of this level, shows that our growth strategy and investment has been the right decision. We will continue to invest and increase our throughput to maintain this growth and international trade growth further. It’s only been made possible with the team I have around me and I would like to thank them for all their hard work in making this possible.”

Sackers will be formally presented with a Grant of Appointment scroll by His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant, King Charles’ personal representative at the Head office and David Dodds will be attending a Reception hosted by the King at Buckingham Palace in June 2023. This Reception will celebrate the achievements of all the 2023 Awardees.

The award will last for 5 years and allows the business to use the trusted Enterprise Emblem mark on literature and marketing, alongside being permitted to fly the King’s Awards flag at, demonstrating Royal endorsement.
