Sackers are using waste and recycling to raise funds for St Elizabeth Hospice after becoming a 30th Partner in March. Being a partner is a pledge to raise £3,000 for the charity over the course of the year.

Skips with the St Elizabeth logo have been produced for Sackers, to contribute to their fundraising efforts.  When the skips are hired by customers, 10% of the skip hire value will go to the charity. Each skip will generate a minimum £20 donation so, they will only need to be rented 150 times to hit the £3,000 target.

Nigel Slinn, Commercial Director at Sackers says “We delivered 5,448 skips last year so this shouldn’t be hard to achieve as long as people know about it but once they start sitting on driveways it should gather some pace. If this is successful, we hope to roll this out across a couple of other charities too. Once the campaign gets a bit of traction, we’d like to think that all 10 will be sitting on driveways or on business premises and we will be able to hit the £3,000 target easily”.

CB Skips Services have provided the first two skips for the campaign, including refurbing and the branding of them.  There will be a be a total of 10 skips produced as and when there is the demand.

Chris Blom from CB Skip Services says “we do all the skip refurbs for Sackers skips and bins, so when they approached us to refurb some skips for St Elizabeth and explained why, as a local businessman I felt passionate about helping them get started because I’m keen to support such a worthwhile charity whose service is invaluable to so many families. I’m looking forward to seeing these skips in use knowing that each one is making money for a great cause and I’m part of that.”.

Additional to this, Sackers have provided a free skip on site for St Elizabeth’s visitors to place all their old metal waste in to. The value of the skip content will go to the charity as and when it’s emptied and a new one will be replaced.

“We are so grateful for the support of Sackers and this is such a unique initiative to support our hospice, and we really hope Sackers customers request those St Elizabeth Hospice skips!  The hospice needs to generate £10.5m a year and this couldn’t be possible without the support of local businesses who are essential in helping us achieve this.
